From prototype to PRD to build roadmap

Published · 9 min read

A repeatable pattern for moving from scattered health-tech ideas to one executable spec a builder can act on.

Most health-tech ideas die in the gap between "I have a prototype" and "the team knows what to build." A repeatable pattern closes that gap in days, not quarters.

The five moves

  • Map the real cognition. Watch the actual work before designing the screen.
  • Write the thesis. One paragraph: who, what problem, why now.
  • Cut the prototype to the spine. Remove everything that is not the core loop.
  • Translate to a PRD. Make it executable — acceptance criteria, not vibes.
  • Sequence the build. What ships first, what it unblocks, what waits.

The artifact at the end is one document a builder can act on without a meeting. That is the whole goal.
